“Andrew is a young, enthusiastic and ambitious physicist with outreach, communication and engagement experience to rival someone twice his age.”
Sadly at the moment I have no upcoming science events, so I have to amuse myself in my kitchen...
Events you may have missed:
Performed at the Edinburgh Fringe as part of CBBC Absolute Genius: The Best Bits.
Part of a team of CBBC Science Presenters at CBBC Live in Leeds, the first time a whole TV channel has been temporarily relocated as part of an outreach event. As a team we performed all day for three days, and also were the entertainment at a VIP reception celebrating the event and the selection of a new Blue Peter presenter.
Performed as a team of science presenters at Cheltenham Science Festival with BBC Science for 5 days.
Helped to manage, run and devise the world's first science pop-up shop, transforming a recession hit shop in Nottingham into a temporary science museum and exhibition space. I trained and managed a team of science buskers with risk assessed demonstrations and organised events. Also coordinated some of the shop space and organised some high profile visitors to the shop.
All in addition to performing science demonstrations in the shop myself.
Part of a team of science presenters in the science themed area of The One Show: Live in Sheffield. As I'm sure you can see, it rained quite a lot but was a very fun day! (Jon Wood's photo)
Sadly the last Bang Goes the Theory: Live event in Poole. Performed as a science presenter on Dr Yan's street science table in the interactive zone. It was such a fun tour, taking us all around the country.
Bang Goes the Theory Live in Sheffield, Demonstrating D3O (to my cousins actually!) Performed as a science presenter on Dr Yan's street science table in the interactive zone.
Bang Goes the Theory: Live in Edinburgh. Performed as part of the Edinburgh International Science Festival, with BBC's Bang Goes the Theory.
The Big Bang Fair in Birmingham's NEC was my first BBC Bang Goes the Theory Live event, I performed in the BBC branded interactive zone as well as assisting with the stage show, rigging pyro, organizing and preparing props and explosives and assisting the stage manager.
Nottingham University: Light Night. I assisted with a number of Nottingham Physics outreach events, most notably the biggest budgeted event is the "light fantastic" physics buskers at Nottingham's Light Night event which I helped with for three years.
Presented a piece for a show with Huw James which involved me being submerged in a cold water immersion tank to test the effect wet-suits have on water-sports in cold water. I had a wet-suit, Huw had... ahem, Speedos. I was lucky!
Onscreen you may have missed:
I introduced a set of highlights clips (which I also shot and edited) for the Big Bang Fair 2013, at the ExCeL London.
Recently presented advert for the world's first science pop-up shop in Nottingham.
